Fine Sand – Ballast & Void Filling for 3D Prints (400 g / 800 g)

This fine sand is designed for use as a void filler and ballast material in hollow 3D-printed parts. When a print contains internal cavities, adding sand increases weight, improves stability, and reduces rattling. It can be used on its own or combined with metal balls to fill the gaps between spheres, increasing effective density.

For 3D printing, sand is typically added through designed fill ports or after printing by opening an access hole and then sealing the part with glue, epoxy, or resin. This approach is well-suited for weighted bases, counterbalanced parts, enclosures, and functional objects where added mass improves performance or perceived quality.

The fine-grain size allows the sand to flow into tight internal spaces and pack efficiently, minimizing trapped air and helping achieve predictable weight per volume. Best results are achieved when the sand is kept dry, and the part is gently vibrated or tapped during filling.
